What to Expect As You Begin
What is therapy like and what should I expect?
Starting therapy can feel unfamiliar, especially if this is your first time. Many people come to therapy after handling everything on their own for a long time. Therapy offers a space to slow down, feel supported, and begin making sense of what you’re carrying.

Your first session is a chance to get to know your therapist and share what brought you in. You’ll talk about your concerns, goals, and what you’re hoping to gain from therapy. There is no pressure to share everything at once. The focus is on creating a comfortable, supportive starting point for your work together.
What happens after I submit my request?
After you submit your request, our team reviews your information, verifies insurance benefits if applicable, and sends next steps through the client portal.
Most clients hear from us within one business day. Requests submitted outside of business hours or on weekends are typically addressed the next business day. Once your paperwork is complete, we contact you to schedule your first session with the therapist who best fits your needs.
Therapist Matching & Fit
How do you decide who I work with?
We consider your concerns, preferences, availability, and clinical needs when matching you with a therapist. Our goal is to connect you with someone whose experience and approach align well with what you’re looking for.
What if my therapist doesn’t feel like the right fit?
Finding the right therapeutic fit matters. If your therapist does not feel like the right match, we encourage you to let us know. When appropriate, we will work with you to explore options and support a transition. Our goal is to ensure that therapy remains helpful, grounded, and aligned with your needs, while also supporting meaningful engagement in the process.
Insurance & Payment
Do you take insurance? How much does therapy cost?
We accept most major insurance plans and verify benefits before your first session whenever possible. This allows us to provide an estimate of coverage and any expected out-of-pocket costs. For detailed information, please visit our Payment Options page.
What if I have questions about my benefits?
You are welcome to reach out to our team with questions about insurance or billing, and we are happy to help guide you. We also encourage clients to contact their insurance provider directly to understand their specific benefits
Your Therapy Experience
Is therapy confidential?
Therapy is confidential, with limited exceptions required by law. Your therapist will review confidentiality and any limits during your first session so you know exactly what to expect.
How often will sessions occur?
Session frequency varies based on your needs and goals. Many clients begin with weekly sessions, and this can change over time as progress is made.
Telehealth
Do you offer in-person sessions?
At this time, we offer online counseling sessions only. Please let us know if you prefer to have an in person provider. We will be happy to assist you.
What do I need for online counseling?
